Jira Reminders — Getting Started Guide

Jira Reminders is a Slack app that helps teams stay on top of Jira issues, deadlines, and project updates — directly inside Slack.

With Jira Reminders, you can:

  • Receive daily or weekly Jira summaries in Slack channels or DMs
  • Schedule reminders for overdue, newly created, resolved, or custom JQL issues
  • Use AI-powered summaries to condense updates into clear, actionable reports
  • Preview and customize all reminders before sending
  • Connect your Jira account securely and manage reminders for your entire team

Installation & Setup

1. Install Jira Reminders

  1. Go to: Add Jira Reminders to Slack
  2. Authorize access to your Slack workspace
  3. Authorize access to your Jira account when prompted
  4. Once installed, you’ll find Jira Reminders in your Slack app sidebar

2. Connect Your Jira Account

  • Open Jira Reminders in Slack
  • Follow the step-by-step prompts to authenticate with Jira
  • Grant the required read-level permissions so the app can fetch project and issue data

3. Verify Your Setup

  • In the app home, click Add Reminder to create a test reminder
  • Choose a project or enter a simple JQL query
  • Preview the reminder and send it to a Slack channel or DM
  • Confirm that a formatted Jira issue summary appears in Slack

Using Jira Reminders in Slack

Create a Reminder

  • Open Jira Reminders and click Add Reminder
  • Select:
  • Jira project(s)
  • Issue types or JQL filters
  • Delivery schedule (daily, weekly, weekdays, specific time)
  • Slack channel or DM destination
  • Add optional AI instructions to customize how summaries are generated
  • Preview the reminders, then click Save

Manage Existing Reminders

  • View all active reminders in the App Home
  • Edit schedule, JQL, summary formatting, or destination
  • Pause, delete, or duplicate reminders as needed
  • Access delivered reports directly through the history section

View Reports & Summaries

  • Receive structured Slack messages with:
  • Issue groups (Overdue, Newly Added, Blocked, Resolved, etc.)
  • Slack-formatted links to Jira issues <https://your-domain/browse/KEY|KEY>
  • AI-generated summaries if enabled
  • Use reports to quickly identify blockers and track progress across teams

Team & Admin Controls

Workspace admins can:

  • Limit or allow who can create reminders
  • Manage Jira connections
  • Configure advanced settings or upgrade plans
